6 tips to speak better
1. Be prepared
Before any meeting, be prepared with the necessary materials and if need be write down things that need to be conveyed to the other party.
2. Use simple words
It is good to have a broad vocabulary, however people can relate to you better if they can fully understand you.
3. Monitor your speed
Speaking too fast will make you sound nervous and if you are too slow, you might bore your listeners. Pace yourself in such a way that your listeners will be focused on what you are saying.
4. Make eye-contact
Whether to a single person or a group. It will enhance your impact as speaker and if you can master the art of purposeful eye-contact, you will be able to influence people to see things the way you see them.
5. Imitate
Watch videos of influential speakers and try to imitate their style and body language. Practice with family and friend and find the one your most comfortable with.
6. Listen to yourself
Record yourself in a natural conversation and listen to it carefully. Identify your problem areas such as usage of too many filler words, monotone or habits that may sound awkward.
